As we begin our countdown to the end of yet another year, we decided to take a look back at some of the moments of joy and magic we experienced this year.

Beginning with Campoeira 2019.

In August, we decided to take our capoeira experience with children outdoors and into the lap of nature to give them a unique capoeira experience and a break from the hustle bustle of the city. Our trip to this farmhouse in Khopoli proved to be an exceptional one with the children engaging in activities like farming, trekking, swimming in the lake, playing lots of capoeira and aquaveira, a treasure hunt, learning cool, new Afro-Brazilian dances, and enjoying Professor Baba’s world-famous special barbecue with a bonfire at night.

The highlights from Campoeira 2019 included the Afro sessions led by Monitor Shiva who runs our centres in New Delhi and Gurgaon. Shiva introduced our children to an Afro-Brazilian dance – a blend of Funk, Afro and Kudoro – on a popular Kenyan number that the kids just can’t stop singing now.

And the evening Roda. Like the ballerina who trains all year to perform on stage, our children had the chance to show off their capoeira skills in the roda and play with each other and also new friends from other centres whom they may not meet on a regular basis. We saw some exceptional games and solos in the roda.

Over breakfast, we also had an art session. The children relaxed and eased into their second day with painting, taking inspiration from their surroundings and capoeira.

Campoeira 2019 was a spectacular break and we are now eagerly counting down the days to another exceptional trip next year.
